This large bar-restaurant, near the Guildhall, isn’t going to win any culinary awards, but is a very versatile venue that’s conveniently located: “a good fallback in the City for decent if unspectacular food and a nice atmosphere. The staff are friendly and it’s turned into our office standby”.

Well-known bar/café/restaurant, near the Guildhall, whose versatile menu (from breakfast on), attractive interior and handy location make it an ideal City rendezvous. Critics dismiss it as too “average”, but, “even when it’s heaving, service is efficient, and it continues to produce reliable food day after day”.

For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
