The vibrancy of the star Spanish chef’s tapas has always seemed slightly at odds with the glossy-but-corporate location of this outlet, in the midst of the City’s Broadgate Circle. Even those who don’t vibe with the place, though, acclaim its “friendly” style, and the cooking is rated from very good to exceptional.
This three-year-old tapas joint in Broadgate Circle consistently rates quite well and is often deafeningly busy, but in this more corporate environment has never generated the wider interest surrounding Pizarro’s original venue in Bermondsey.
Tapas king, José P’s “quick and easy” two-year-old is “well-located in the revamped Broadgate Circle”, and can become extremely busy (“it was too loud to hear one another talk”). But while fans do extol its “excellent food”, overall feedback is a little middling and muted for such a hallowed name.
“The slightly impersonal location doesn’t do any favours” to José P’s yearling in Broadgate Circle, and service can vary too; but on the plus-side his “top-quality tapas” is “seriously good and authentic”; “arrive early to secure an outside table on sunny days”.
