Things look cute and ivy-clad on the outside, and properly quirky on the inside (copper kettles hang from the eaves, there’s comedy taxidermy and, most dramatically, an 18 feet-deep well between the lounge and restaurant), at this gastroboozer in one of the villages on the outskirts of Lincoln. The British pub grub (steak and ale pies, Grimsby-landed haddock) is largely locally sourced and was soundly rated.

For 35 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"While the twice baked soufflé was tasty with cheese bacon and mushroom and well cooked. The korean pork belly had been significantly over-salted. The fish pie was hot and tasty but the indonesian curry, whilst containing coconut and cashews as described , had barely any curry flavour and had not been in the same room as a chilli, whilst the salad was merely a selection of lettuce leaves with no other vegetables other than the merest grating of carrot. Overall a game of 2 halves ."
