“The location is beautiful” – a gorgeous Art Nouveau building dating from 1907 – but this well-known landmark is too often said to be “overpriced and living on very faded past glories”. Nowadays marketed as a ‘Wedding Venue, Restaurant and Boutique B&B’, its food events seem to offer very limited dining possibilities nowadays, so for the time being we’ve left it unrated.
Near the train station, this landmark hotel, whose gorgeous Art Nouveau interiors ensure a steady wedding trade, still has the capacity to delight some reporters – though the food has “steadily trundled downhill” over the years, and doubters warn you’ll pay “high prices for very average victuals”.
“Clearly the ambience is the main draw” to this long-running, town-centre veteran, in a celebrated Art Nouveau building. As for the food? – “incidental” (“many years ago, this was the area’s go-to place, now it’s a shadow of that former self”).
“Still the class act in Knutsford” – a town-centre landmark occupying a “stylish” (Art Nouveau) building. It’s “not cheap” however, and the odd critic feels that the “grand surroundings are not matched by the food quality these days”.
