“Like having your own country club!” – this handsome sixteenth-century inn with substantial grounds a short drive outside Wrexham is “very comfortable, with friendly staff”. Part of the Brunning & Price group, its cooking is generally found “reliable”, although a couple of repeat visitors reported disappointing trips this year.
In a quaint 16th century inn with an inglenook and sizeable garden (with small lake), this Brunning & Price outfit is “one of the best gastropubs in the area”; it does, accordingly, get “busy” (“you must book”), but the “setting and atmosphere make up for that”.
An “archetypal Brunning & Price gastropub”, featuring a “characterful building and super location” (a lakeside manor with a “cracking garden”), “usually reliable dishes” and “great beers”.
A visit to this “very comfortable” and quaint manor house overlooking a lake is “like having your own country club!”; although the food can be “hit and miss”, and there’s little local competition, the “good beers” and “ever-changing” nosh makes it “one of the best Brunning & Price” spots.
Pant-yr-Ochain Restaurant Diner Reviews
"First visit for a year, occasioned by a supermarket trip running over. Worst meal ever in what has been very reliable restaurant. Tasteless whitebait, really no sense of fish at all. Suet pudding with game filling. Couldn't tell what meat we were eating, and suet "crust" was supersmooth like out of a tin. Similar comment re mashed potato, homogenised to death. Had to buy a ortion of chips t get some texture. But the red cabbage was rather good. It'll be a long time before we risk this again"
