“Innovative food that’s well priced” from a menu of sparky small plates helps ensure Jonathan MacDonald’s Finnieston gastropub is “always packed”. There’s lots to interest non- meat-eaters here too, with their own dedicated menu to select from.

“Adventurous taste combinations, very consistently delivered” via a good selection of “innovative small plates” score top marks last year for this Finnieston gastropub. Service is “lovely too” and the only gripe is that some seats are “a wee bit cramped”.

“Cheery” but hip and foodie-forward Finnieston boozer offering “good value” Scottish-slanted small plates from a vast menu, alongside “interesting wines”; a Middle Eastern sibling, BABA, opened on the city’s prime artery George St in November 2017.

For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
