“It’s not trendy nor cutting edge and does not attempt to be, but consistently maintains excellent standards” – David and Rona Pitchford’s “slightly old-fashioned” venture occupies “a delightful Georgian manor” (with “a lovely garden for a pre lunch drink”) and serves “classic” cuisine. Top Tip – “lunch is a special bargain”.
“A lovely Georgian house with elegant dining rooms” provides the setting for David and Rona Pitchford’s long-established venture. It’s “a bit old-fashioned”, but its regular local fan club say “it ticks all the boxes”, with its “smart and comfortable” interior and “fine, classical standard of cooking”.
“Beautifully laid tables” and “excellent, old-fashioned service” – “too polite for this century”, but very “un-snooty” – characterise the old-school approach of David and Rona Pitchford’s long-established, “high-class” Kent favourite. “Take your mother-in-law, and any wounds will be healed…”
David and Rona Pitchford have presided over this “very genteel” restaurant, now housed in a Georgian rectory, for over 35 years – “a perfect setting” for this “slightly ‘old school’ Kent” experience; service is “genuine”, and the “excellent” cooking “takes old favourites and adds a hint of innovation”.
Read’s Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Consistency once more with impeccable service for dinner and breakfast. Wine prices are still very reasonable with a good range - a lovely Chapel down sparkling Rose at under £40! Beautiful restaurant setting with views over the garden preceded by an apritifi in the delightful courtyard."
