Summary
This ambitious and promising-looking Leith restaurant is the work of chefs Tomas Gormley and Sam Yorke and was born from a lockdown pop-up success called Bad Seeds. It offers field-to-table fine-dining with a regularly changing menu showcasing Scottish produce, and its position near the water adds to its appeal.
For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Heron Restaurant Diner Reviews

"A lovely neighbourhood restaurant in Leith with a nice atmosphere. Although the starter was disappointing- mackerel and gooseberry- the pork and sauerkraut main and the chocolate dessert were exceptional."

"Lived up to expectations, and the whipped miso/crab butter which came with the bread while we were deciding what to order set the tone. Excellent venison and guinea fowl mains were the high spots. Only slight niggle - why use gooseberries in February? Surely there's something more seasonal that would do?"

"The food is lovely. Not the most filling meal ever, but really nice. The space is quite large and echoey - needs a bit more stuff in there to dampen the sound! "
