A “quiet, refined little haven out in the fields”, this isolated conversion of an Ayrshire cottage is hosted by an accomplished husband-and-wife chef team, who celebrate their 25th anniversary here this year. “Keith and Nicola’s wonderful place just never lets you down” according to all reports – “no wonder it’s the only Scottish restaurant to have kept its Michelin star consistently for 19 years in a row (now 20), while others have come and gone!” It provides “very friendly and helpful service”, plus “local, seasonal food, skillfully cooked and well presented from a short menu, which ensures everything is fresh and of the best possible quality”.
“There are very few restaurants that have 17 unbroken years with a Michelin star” but, by all accounts, Keith & Nicola Braidwood’s “unexpected” venue – cross a cattle grid to get to the isolated cottage – “always delivers outstandingly on all fronts” and “no one can make you feel more at home”.
