Summary
Rescued after lying derelict for four years and rebuilt last year by local entrepreneur Paul Gardner, who made a substantial amount of money selling hand sanitiser during the pandemic, this historic village pub has high gastronomic ambitions, with Ryan McCartney, former head chef at Jason Atherton’s Social Eating House, heading the kitchen team ahead of a launch scheduled for the first half of 2023. The two men relaunched the George & Dragon at Erlestoke on the edge of Salisbury Plain last year.
