Harden's survey result
This “lovely Lake District pub with views over the Lyth Valley” (there are “few better places to be than on the terrace”) is a “firm favourite” locally owing to its oft-changing, unpretentious menu, including game in season, and “fabulous portions”.
“The lovely terrace has a great view of the Fell and on a sunny day this Lakeland pub is packed with walkers”. “A trusted old favourite” it’s worth the crush for its “good range of beers” and “imaginative” fare (“more pub food than the restaurant variety”) – “keep to the smaller portions unless you have a huge appetite!”
For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

The Masons Arms Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Average pub food"
"Delighted we booked this great pub for a dinner. The pub is full of character and our service was polite, attentitive and entertaining. A dish of Pan fried wild mushroom with sage & garlic served upon cauliflower puree finished with poached egg & truffle (The full discription left no doubt about what you would be eating) was pronounced the best dish eaten in a week that included eating at two Seth Rogan restaurants."
