“Consistently good fresh food” has been on the menu at this “unpretentious” family-run operation for 20 years – “how they can cook fish so well always amazes me, given the numbers they cater for”. Along with the seafood, there’s local game and meat, and vegetables from their own garden.

“Incredibly fresh seafood” (plus local game and vegetables from their own garden) forms the backbone of the menu at this modest-looking bistro in a “lovely, tucked-away setting”. Family-operated, it celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year.

It “looks like a modest little cafe, tucked out of sight halfway up a street in this sleepy little town”, but this “great little” bistro is in fact “one of the best fish restaurants in Norfolk”; “how they cope with the numbers yet still serve fish so well is a mystery!”

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
