Lovers of kitsch should make a beeline to this well-established venue, not far from the Bull Ring, decorated like an old-fashioned Eastern European cottage – “highly recommended to anybody who would like to try Polish cuisine” or looking for a meal with “great character”.

10/10 for effort on the décor at this kitschy classic five minutes from the Bull Ring, but decorated like an old Pollish cottage. Too limited reports last year for a proper rating of the hearty east European scoff, but all feedback is positive.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Have you eaten at The Karczma?

Owner's description

The Karczma is a traditional Polish restaurant, bar and grill located in the heart of Birmingham, just 5min walk from both the Bull Ring Shopping Centre and Moor Street Rail Station.

Restaurant is decorated in the style of an old Polish country cottage seating 85 people across 2 rooms.

The menu is designed to reflect a homely, hearty and rustic food that’s quintessentially Polish, and prepared using only the very best quality ingredients.

The menu contains numerous Polish classics including Pierogi (stuffed dumplings), Berszcz (Beetroot soup), Pickled Herring, Zurek (Pickled Rye Flour Soup) served from a hollowed out loaf of bread, as well as a whole host of grilled meats and fish.

We wish you a pleasant stay and Enjoy !!!
