“Well-executed food from the Tanner Bros of Saturday Kitchen fame” is the order of the day at this “very useful and enjoyable” gastropub… “worth a detour if in the area”.

The “consistently good, well-executed food” at brothers Chris & James Tanner’s “versatile” and “welcoming” gastropub attracted nothing but praise this year. The one mild complaint – more of a suggestion – was that “the menu doesn’t change much”.

It “doesn’t look promising from the outside” – that’ll be the petrol station neighbour – but step through the doors of the Tanner bros’ “lovely” rural operation, and you’ll find an airy conservatory, terrace and garden, plus some “excellent pub food” – especially meat.

While “not as old as many of the pubs nearby”, this recently refurbed gastroboozer, in a rural setting with a pretty garden, is still a worthy destination thanks to its “relaxed” vibe and its “amazingly consistent” grub.

"Remarkably consistent restaurant. The menu is interesting and the food always well cooked and beautifully presented - it probably helped that one of the Tanner Brothers was in the kitchen on this visit. The weekday set lunch is very good value for food of this quality."
