On an immaculately rejigged Victorian farm, Terry Laybourne’s PR-friendly three-year-old venture is one part distillery, and one part easy-going bistro, praised for its “excellent service” and venturesome drinks list; to make a day of it, you can also meet and greet their alpacas.
“Part of the glamorous (whisky-oriented) Lakes Distillery complex outside Keswick”, and set in a former Victorian cattle parlour – Terry Laybourne’s two-year-old might sound like a tourist trap, but in fact it offers “good food in an area short of it”.
“On the face of it, just an eatery at a tourist attraction” (a whisky distillery set in a former Victorian cattle parlour), Terry Laybourne’s year-old venture is “in fact an excellent restaurant” – “much effort has been put into it and it’s all top quality”.
Bistro At The Distillery Restaurant Diner Reviews
"A visit in the dark makes comprehending the outdoor toilet block amongst the distillery complex a little baffling. But what's left is some excellent food, broad menu (including excellent desserts), charming and attentive service and modern, quality dining room. The local whisky is a bit too young to be judging it too critically but the Bistro is the simplest way to sample it in a relaxed way."
