On an immaculately rejigged Victorian farm, Terry Laybourne’s PR-friendly three-year-old venture is one part distillery, and one part easy-going bistro, praised for its “excellent service” and venturesome drinks list; to make a day of it, you can also meet and greet their alpacas.
“Part of the glamorous (whisky-oriented) Lakes Distillery complex outside Keswick”, and set in a former Victorian cattle parlour – Terry Laybourne’s two-year-old might sound like a tourist trap, but in fact it offers “good food in an area short of it”.
“On the face of it, just an eatery at a tourist attraction” (a whisky distillery set in a former Victorian cattle parlour), Terry Laybourne’s year-old venture is “in fact an excellent restaurant” – “much effort has been put into it and it’s all top quality”.
“New to the foodie scene this year”, an “airy” bistro in a lavishly revamped Victorian cattle parlour; the food (overseen by Northern luminary Terry Laybourne) is “certainly trying hard”, but with mixed results so far, and pricing “needs to be seriously looked at” too.
