A former boathouse on the high street, turned hotel and dining room, that remains of note for its “delightful food impeccably served in a not overcrowded restaurant” – though you’ll need to book ahead on weekends, when they also lay on a “good Sunday lunch”.
Long hailed as a local beacon, an intimate hotel dining room, in a high street building that has served as both a boathouse and tearoom. “Subtle and efficient” service is matched with “quality food” (fish, speciality sourdoughs etc.) and they couldn’t be more “accommodating”.
This hotel dining room, occupying a former boathouse set back from the main street, has built up a loyal local following for its “dependable food” – grilled fish, steaks, risotto and so on – and “reasonable prices” (especially the bargain set menu).
With its “brilliant” desserts and decent mains (especially meat), this pared-back hotel dining room “improves the high street”; even those who feel it’s “solid” but “not inspirational” admit that it’s “the best local restaurant” nonetheless.
