Harden's says

A new dining experience set in the estate's Victorian glasshouse and bothy. Led by Executive Chef Peter Howarth, it is to focus on a "seed-to-service" approach, offering indoor and outdoor dining with locally sourced ingredients and a menu reflecting the seasonal produce. With its relaxed yet elegant approach featuring gardens, wildlife, and a stargazing experience, this immersive dining destination aims to showcase Scotland's finest produce in a sustainable and memorable manner, while complementing the Castle's existing fine dining offerings. Sample dishes: St. Bride’s Chicken with Wild Mushrooms and Tarragon Sauce, Rib Eye of Prime Scottish Beef ‘Au Poivre’ with Pomme Frites and Glenapp Garden Salad

Within one of the last remaining Moncur & McKenzie Glasshouses in the walled gardens of the estate – and featuring many of the kitchen garden’s own veg, herbs and fruit – this second restaurant at the castle opened in May 2025, too late for feedback in our annual diners’ poll. It’s a grand environment – Winston Churchill stayed here as he planned D-Day with General Eisenhower – but here in the glass-house it’s not nearly as expensive as in the main restaurant with mains from around £30.

For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
