Perfectly timed for the warm weather South Ken’s “grand” purveyor of Polish cuisine, Ognisko, has unveiled its new outdoor terrace. From Thursday 14 May guests will be able to dine al-fresco overlooking a garden square and enjoy a list of seasonal, summer cocktails.
Housed in the ‘Ognisko Polskie’, the Polish Hearth Club, Ognisko Restaurant was opened by Jan Woroniecki (owner of Baltic Bar and Restaurant, Waterloo) in September 2013. Occupying three floors of a grand Victorian terrace, the ground floor restaurant and first floor reception room are open to members, and non-members alike.
On the summer menu: Steamed freshwater crayfish with vodka and dill butter; white peach, salted almonds and goats curd salad; ‘Chlodnik’, chilled beetroot, radish and yoghurt soup; blinis with smoked salmon, herring or caviar; and lamb Shashlik with bulgar wheat pilaf, pepper relish and garlic yogurt accompanied by ‘Mizeria’, a Polish cucumber salad or ‘Surowka’, Sauerkraut with Apple and dill.
House-infused vodka cocktails include: Strawberry & Basil Margarita and Spring Break Pear.
