Tyddyn Llan country house hotel in Llandrillo – which received Wales’s highest rating for cuisine in this year’s Harden’s survey – is holding a special St David’s Day dinner and room offer. Try Bryan and Susan Webb’s “lovely” and “remote” rural location with its “top-class” food and “superb wine list” for a fraction of the usual price on Sunday 1 March.

Enjoy a five course feast celebrating Welsh produce including matching wines for £68 per person and a reduced bed and breakfast rate of £120 for standard, £140 for a large room and £160 for the best rooms. A garden suite is £200.

On the menu: canapés; vinaigrette of leeks with Carmarthen ham and crispy local duck egg; roast turbot, braised Welsh black oxtail, parsley sauce, deep fried cockles; Madgett’s farm duck breast, faggot with bubble and squeak, peppercorns and sage; Welsh rarebit with celery, apple, walnut and chicory salad and “Bara Brith” bread and butter pudding, caramel ice cream.
