“You go for the wonderful location”“a splendid vantagepoint with views over Portland Harbour” – if you seek out this brightly-decorated prefab, near the water, with outside seating. It’s not a foodie locale however: it serves fish ’n’ chips, baps, burgers, pizzas and other beachy snacks.

Summary

A “wonderful situation with fantastic views” over Portland Harbour wins fans for this laid-back, basic-looking waterside operation in a jazzed-up pre-fab, serving a good variety of dude food and cocktails. (Billy Winters, by the way, is a reference to Weymouth Bay prawns).

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. This year diners have submitted over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK.

Have you eaten at Billy Winters Bar & Diner?

Owner's description

Billy Winter's is the brain child of Nigel Bloxham, chef proprietor at The Crab House Cafe, Weymouth. Billy Winters is a rustic/beach diner/bar sat right on the beach with beautiful views overlooking Portland harbour. Billy's serves up authentic, quality and artisan food with a hearty helping of vegetarian and meat dishes,  with cocktails and hot drinks served all day.
