Harden's survey result
Summary
“An unexpectedly good find in this part of Ulster” is the verdict of the (admittedly limited) feedback we receive on Kevin & Caroline Clarke’s town centre venue, which is approaching its twentieth anniversary. The brasserie style menu is very competitively priced at lunch (with two courses for £19.95) and with options ranging from steak sandwich to duck breast, market fish and steak. At dinner, an array of steaks and sauces is the headline feature with supporting dishes featuring chicken and fish options.
Summary
“A lifeboat of haute cuisine” in an area not known for fancy feasting, this husband and wife-run venue in the town centre was set up by Kevin & Caroline Clarke in 2007 and has bagged many a national award during its transition from bistro to slightly more fine-dining spot (prices remain distinctly democratic). While not all dishes hit the mark, there are “definitely a lot more hits than misses” and it’s certainly “good to know if you’re ever in the area”.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
