Summary
“Out of the way but well worth an overnight stay” – this 18th-century inn with four bedrooms is set in the North Pennines and was taken over and refurbished by industry veteran Nick Parkinson in 2023. It’s more a restaurant with a bar than it is a boozer. Chef Connor Wilson uses classic cooking techniques to produce an à la carte menu as well as (in the evening) a ten-course tasting menu for £105 per person – a “great selection with the accent on local sourcing”. Top Tip – “unbelievable wine list, a huge selection and some real bargains”.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

The Kirkstyle Inn Restaurant Diner Reviews
"What a beautiful place! Stunning food, great wines and cracking atmosphere, i would so highly recommend it!! If you haven't been, you must. Thank you guys"
"We Ate here as a table of 4 having tasting menu, from the moment we came in the door we were made to feel welcome and were offered the unbelievable wine list, a huge selection and some real bargains to be had on special wines! Then we were taken to our table, the building is gorgeous and the setting stunning. The food started to arrive and we knew it was going to be excellent, the lobster with squash and caviar was exquisite, and the doshes continued to excel from there. This os the best tasting menu we have had, easily competing woth more highly accoladed restaurants, and at £85 per head it was a bargain! The only slight comment I could make to the negative is there was only about 12 people dining! If it was a touch busier (which I am sure it will be soon) then it wpuld score perfect 5’s all around"
