Well-located in the centre of the town on ‘The Parade’ – this old inn wins praise for “good pub food with some more adventurous items” and “community-minded owners who have become part of the town”. The latter are Mo Gherras and his family, who put their savings into the place in 2019, the pub having lain vacant for a number of years.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Have you eaten at The Cross Keys Hotel?

Owner's description

Located at the heart of the community on Sherborne’s historic Conduit marketplace known as The Parade, The Cross Keys is one of the town’s most famous inns. Just around the corner from 15th century Sherborne Abbey, the pub has been welcoming locals and visitors for more than two hundred years.

The Cross Keys is first and foremost a friendly pub where you can grab a snack and a beer; a relaxing pint from one of the local award winning breweries, a delicious glass of wine or a classic cocktail at the end of a long day. Or perhaps a morning coffee with friends or afternoon cuppa and homemade cake? Our welcoming bar is just the place to meet and relax any time of day.

We aim to make everyone feel welcome, whatever their preferences. Our seasonal menu includes vegetarian and vegan options and we cater for all dietary requirements.  As parents, owners Hannah and Mo appreciate the importance of including children around the table and offer young guests a smaller portion of many of our main menu dishes.

We are open all day Tuesday through to Sunday, and always have something to eat on offer but to avoid disappointment please note our key timings: Tuesday-Saturday: Breakfast is served from 9am - 11am, Lunch from 12 mid-day to 2.30pm, then Dinner from 6pm with last orders by 9pm. On Sundays we serve Brunch from 10am until 12 midday and then a Roast Lunch until last orders at 4pm. In between those times we offer our famous Story Pig sausage rolls, olives, pastries and cakes as well as a full bar offering, non-alcoholic drinks, smoothies and hot drinks.

WE HOPE TO WELCOME YOU SOON!
