The Dalesman Country Inn is a privately owned, family-run country inn located in the Western Dales of Cumbria, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Established in 1987, the business has been built on a long-standing commitment to quality, consistency, and genuine hospitality.
The inn combines the character and warmth of a traditional country property with modern comfort and high standards of service. We are proud to hold a 5-star rating for accommodation and 2 AA Rosettes for culinary excellence, reflecting the importance we place on both guest comfort and dining.
Food is central to The Dalesman’s identity. Our restaurant offers seasonal British menus with a modern approach, using carefully sourced ingredients from local and regional producers wherever possible. The kitchen focuses on strong provenance, technical consistency, and dishes that respect the quality of the ingredients while offering refinement and flavour.
Hospitality remains at the heart of everything we do. As an independent family business, we place great emphasis on creating a welcoming yet professional environment where guests feel relaxed, valued, and well cared for. Many of our guests return regularly, drawn by the combination of personal service, high standards, and the unique setting of the Western Dales.
After nearly four decades, The Dalesman continues to evolve while remaining true to the values on which it was founded: warm hospitality, excellent food, and attention to detail.
