Harden's survey result
Summary
“Characterful and cosy seaside pub-with-rooms” metres back from the Jurassic coast (and close to the Golden Cap, the highest point on the South Coast), with an “outside garden” – perfect for “sitting outside with good seafood”. It’s an “unexpected treat”, with “good food and friendly service”.
Summary
A gorgeously set boozer (with three bedrooms upstairs) in an under-the-radar Dorset town, with a view down to the Isle of Portland, and the National Trust-run Golden Cap coastline also at close hand. The menu revolves around British classics, but there’s “lots more thought on the menu than that” and it’s “all well executed” to boot. Despite including a fair amount of fish, for the truly piscine-minded they “should be doing more as it’s so close to the sea” (a skip and a jump).
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
