Harden's survey result
For 25 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. This year diners have submitted over 60,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK.
Renamed and expensively refurbed, this country pub-with-rooms (fka The Crab at Chieveley) now offers a “very pleasant interior”, including an “excellent pub grub area”; “the menu (as the name) espouses both fish and meat now”, with the fish in particular “restoring the high standards” achieved in the past.
In a “lovely” setting, this “seafood gastropub” wins applause for its “excellent, fresh fish, imaginatively presented”. Not for the first time however, some reporters found “the experience a let down” on account of “chaotic” and “uncaring” service.
This nautical-themed restaurant may be “a long way from the sea”, but it still serves up some “gorgeous” fish dishes; indeed, many reporters are delighted by its all-round standards, but there was the occasional incident this year when service was “spectacularly bad”.
