A three-year-old village restaurant (with two rooms) run by Matthew Sworder, ex-of Gordon Ramsay; while critics felt that it “was pleasant enough, but overall didn’t live up to the (‘Kent Restaurant of the Year’) hyperbole”, fans insist that it’s still “worth travelling to”. A Canterbury sibling opened in July 2016 (the Flying Horse pub in Dover Street).
“One to watch” – a “relatively new enterprise” (est 2013) in this historic village helmed by Kentish chef Matt Sworder, who worked under Gordon Ramsay; its menu of British sharing plates contains “a few gems” with the “use of fresh local produce being noticeable”.
