Harden's survey result
An “old-fashioned, warm and lovely Italian”, whose “comforting” ‘throwback’ style is at odds with its very central Covent Garden location. The family who ran ran it for so many years retired in August 2018, however, and – though the staff remain – some old-timers are concerned: “since the change of ownership the standard of cooking in this much-loved restaurant seems to have slipped, while the prices have increased. However its proximity to theatres means it is still busy”.
“Busy, fun and great value for money” – this “typical family-run Italian” (and there aren’t many of them left in Covent Garden) serves “really good classics, not just pasta”; but “the real bonus is the friendly service and buzz – when so many customers seem to be regulars, you know they must be doing something right!”.
“Superb pasta” tops the bill at this “cosy, traditional family-run Italian in Covent Garden” (“and there ain’t many of those left in central London”), which has a big fanclub thanks to its “welcoming” (if “noisy”) style and “excellent value”.
“Old-fashioned”, “crowded and very noisy” neighbourhood Italian – a “star in the largely ho-hum Covent Garden gastronomic firmament”. “There’s always a warm welcome from the hosts”, along with “plenty of daily specials” at prices that are “easy on the wallet”.
