In a very quiet Kensington backwater, this small Italian occupies the cute site that was for years Chez Patrick (RIP) – it’s more stylish nowadays, serving high-quality fish and seafood either at the downstairs counter, or upstairs main dining room.

“Expertly prepared fresh fish” (“magnificent scallops, large and with the coral attached: so rare!”) makes it worth truffling out this “slightly expensive but useful local” – the Italian successor to the quiet Kensington site that was for aeons Chez Patrick (RIP), and which nowadays is in a more stylish guise, with the main dining room upstairs, and a counter downstairs.

“A good addition to the area” – this Italian newcomer has adopted the tucked-away Kensington mews site that was for ages Chez Patrick (RIP), and although “they’ve spent a fortune on doing it up” bears some comparison to its predecessor: it’s still “rather cramped” (“they generally seat you upstairs nowadays”); and the food (majoring in fish and pizza like its sibling Portobello Ristorante) is “good but a little pricey”.

For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
