Breaking news

December 2017: Just over a year after it first opened Veneta closed for good on Friday 22 December, three days before Christmas. The site has been put up for sale for an undisclosed amount.

Harden's says

From the Salt Yard Group (Opera Tavern, Salt Yard, Dehesa, Ember Yard) a new Venetian-inspired restaurant in Haymarket's St James's Market development has opened, alongside a second Duck & Waffle outpost and the London version of New York's Nordic fine dining establishment Aquavit.

“Choices from the fish bar are a highlight” at this year-old Salt Yard Group venture, whose “Italian-style” small plates formula here is “mainly focussed on Venetian dishes”. Occupying a unit in the new St James’s Market development, all the “glass, flash and tourists” of this “big, chimney-like space” are at odds with the cosy style of its stablemates.

For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
