This “great local restaurant” has notched up 25 years in Wimbledon Village, and “turns out far better food than you might expect from a local spot”. An “interesting menu” of Mediterranean-influenced dishes means it is frequently packed.

“Almost part of Wimbledon’s heritage nowadays!”: after a quarter of a century’s service, this local indie is a local contemporary classic, known for its “very good” Mediterranean-style food and “personable staff”. Fans say it’s “upped its game over the last year” too, although it “can struggle to cope when crowded”.

Celebrating its 25th year, “this excellent, independent neighbourhood restaurant knocks out top-class Mediterranean dishes at no more than you’d pay in a nearby pub” – in an “imaginative” culinary style that’s “not changed much over the years”. It can seem pricey, or “hit and miss”, but there’s also an argument that it’s “so underrated”.

“Just how a local should be”, say fans of this indie near Wimbledon Village, as it approaches its 24th year. The kitchen has sometimes stood accused of “trying too hard”“the style of food has not changed much over the years and the quality can be a bit hit ’n’ miss, but it remains very popular nevertheless”.“Service is excellent”, and “the venue has just the right level of buzz”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"We had a lovely time celebrating my wife's birthday, the food was fantastic and the staff were delightful. Everything made for an excellent afternoon and the special little touches such as having a birthday message printed on the menu as well as a birthday dessert were really appreciated. We've long loved the Light House and this just served to cement that feeling."
