Bright, white-walled café on a Walworth corner that makes a feature of playing vintage vinyl, and is hailed as a “fab neighbourhood spot”, particularly for brunch. Also, “look out for top-class cooking at pop-up events in the evening”.

“A welcome addition to SE17” – this popular two-year-old is a refuge from “the pollution and noise of Walworth Road” and scores well with its “fun” combination of “tasty” small plates from guest chefs, cocktails and local beers, and the soundtrack of vintage vinyl. The odd fan, though, can feel “they take advantage of being one of the only kids on the block” hereabouts, with sometimes “disinterested service”.

“Exponentially raising the attractiveness of SE17 as a culinary destination!” – this white-walled, all-day café opened as a result of a successful 2016 crowdfund by the owners of nearby Fowlds, and transforms (four nights a week) into a hip restaurant with guest chefs and DJ nights.

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
