“An enduring curio that never disappoints and is so engagingly different” – this family run dining room, off the top end of Baker Street, is entered through a take-away, and offers genuine Egyptian cooking at prices that are a snip, in a genuinely Egyptian (if not always particularly polished) manner.

“Idiosyncratic, different and engaging”; if you’re happy to chance it a bit and like Middle Eastern food, this family-run Egyptian – a simple room behind a take-away off Baker Street – is worth a trip and it’s not a huge investment: “I have always liked the food even if the ambience is a bit caff-style, but recently for a dinner party I went there, ordered the food, and half an hour later was on my way home with a magnificent spread for the same price as a pizza delivery!”

This “unique family-run Egyptian café” behind a Marylebone takeaway owes its “engaging personality” to its location in the owners’ living room. There’s an “interesting” choice, so “order a variety of starters with one or two main courses”, and remember to BYO.

“If you want the food and ambience of an Egyptian cafe, you’ll find it here”, at this living-room-style operation behind a Marylebone takeaway (“the TV is likely to be on only if there is an important football game in Egypt”). “Interesting” home-cooked fare, and you can BYO.
