A “great location inside Harlow Carr RHS gardens” ensures that this “lovely quaint tearoom” scores more highly than some of the other outposts in the chain and “if you can grab a window seat (not easy as it can get very busy), then the views over the gardens are special”. On the menu: afternoon tea (or a savoury selection) and what’s “particularly refreshing is that for an obvious potential tourist trap the food is really excellent and not outrageously expensive” either.

This outpost of the celebrated Yorkshire tearooms has “more space than the branch in the centre of Harrogate” and a fine location “overlooking a wonderful garden” (the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr); add in “good food” ranging from pastries and cakes to more hearty repasts and it makes “a good place to meet business colleagues and friends”.

Enjoy a panoramic view from your table, when you eat overlooking the splendid gardens at RHS Harlow Carr, at this outpost of the well-known Yorkshire team room chain. Most famous for its afternoon tea potential, it’s often also tipped for its breakfast as “a lovely treat to start the day”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
