“Thoughtful” Vietnamese food is served at “fabulous prices for the generous portions” at this duo in Soho and Hoxton from Hieu Trung Bui, who has done much to popularise pho and other southeast Asian dishes in London over more than 20 years. That “plenty of Asian people eat there too” speaks for its “authentic” style.

Some of the “tastiest Vietnamese food in town” is found at this pair in Hoxton and Soho from Hieu Trung Biu, a pioneer of pho and other southeast Asian specialties in the capital over two decades. Popularity means they can be “deafeningly loud”.

This Vietnamese duo in Soho and Hoxton are a good bet for “hugely tasty” and “great-value” southeast Asian food. Founder Hieu Trung Bui has been a major force in popularising Vietnamese cuisine in the capital for 20 years; he also owns Viet Grill in Shoreditch and the three Keu delis, specialising in ‘banh mi’ (stuffed baguettes).

The “fantastic” Vietnamese food at these canteens “is by far the best I’ve found, and I’ve tried a number of places in London” – although “it isn’t the best for ambience”. There are two to choose between, although the Soho site attracts more feedback than the Hoxton original these days. Top Tip – “the banh cuon (steamed rice roll) has me travelling across town with a craving!”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
