“Fun and friendly ‘tech’ restaurants” in Soho and Covent Garden, where you order and can play battleships or other games on the interactive table-tops (making it a favourite for families up in the West End). But unless your idea of foodie revelation is sushi served in the shape of a caterpillar dragon (complete with goggly eyes!), don’t go expecting too much of the pan-Asian menu: not too pricey but “just OK”.

“The table games will keep you busy throughout!” at these gimmicky and heavily marketed venues in Soho and Covent Garden, where kids love the interactive table-tops, and funky sushi in the shape of a caterpillar. Sceptics say “everything is a bit bland and the rooms feel quite dated”, but in the right mindset – especially with younger kids in tow – it can be a fun outing and the pan-Asian menu has something for everyone.

“Launched in 2008 as the world’s first interactive restaurant”, these Soho and Covent Garden venues are “great for an alternative afternoon tea” and attract a “young, tech-savvy crowd”. A meal here is “certainly an experience – you have to see it to believe it”, and the pan-Asian “unlimited lunch” is “of a high standard”.

“So much fun for the kids!” – these “interactive, self-ordering ‘Asian’ feasts!” in Soho and Covent Garden feature funky projectors, so that the tabletop effectively operates as a touch-screen. “Placing an order here is really entertaining” and, though the food is not the main event, it’s well-rated: “there’s so much variety and their bottomless offers are amazing value”. “The family always wants to go back…”

For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
