“Cheap, cheerful and authentic” cafés in Chinatown and Bayswater “popular with Malaysian expats”. Most order the “superb noodles”, while the “aggressive ginger drinks” offer another blast of southeast Asian flavour. “Not as inexpensive as they used to be, but worth it”.

“Ignore the Formica! The flavours and smells are pure Malaysia” at this “café-style” venue, in Chinatown (with a glossier offshoot in Bayswater). “If you like South East Asian food, this is the place to find it”“made fresh and brought quickly” – and it’s “fantastic value for money”.

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
