Harden's survey result
Summary
“With large floor-to-ceiling windows providing a great view of Christchurch Harbour”, Alex Aitken’s “stunning modern restaurant on the shore” is extremely popular and backs up its “delightful” location with “reliable locally sourced seafood” and – notwithstanding one or two reports of “average” meals – typical reports say “the high standard of food and service mean it comes recommended”.
Summary
This “top spot” – a modern, glass-walled venue with a terrace for outdoor dining at a “lovely location on Christchurch Harbour” (in the grounds of the Harbour Hotel and with superb views) – is an ideal showcase for chef Alex Aitken’s “consistently high-quality, locally sourced seafood”.
Summary
“Perched on the water’s edge of Mudeford Quay”, Alex Aitken’s “stunning” destination, in the grounds of the Harbour Hotel, is one of the most commented-on destinations on the South Coast. The “idyllic harbour-side setting” (“with views of Christchurch Harbour”) contributes to the “lovely and quite intimate atmosphere”, and the culinary attraction is “impeccable” fish and seafood that’s “allowed to be the star on the plate, without undue messing about”: “local-caught oysters, lobster and shrimps, as well as a superb fresh fish choice, are married beautifully with seasonal produce, alongside some exceptional wines”. “Staff are dynamic and knowledgeable” too. “I always take visitors here and they always love it”.
Summary
“An outstanding location right by the sea” and “looking out across Christchurch Bay to Mudeford Sands” sets a very attractive scene for a meal at Alex Aitken’s modern-looking restaurant, in the grounds of the Harbour Hotel. “Appropriately, it’s fish that's the star of the menus, although there are plenty of alternatives to consider (almost too many menus here, although they handle this well). There's a welcome emphasis on seasonality and a deft touch to the preparation; nothing too fancy, nothing too experimental. Good wine list and welcoming, friendly staff”.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

The Jetty Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Great location, really good food and excellent service. The mini gastro menu hits all the right spots."
"With large floor to ceiling windows providing a great view of Christchurch Harbour, we enjoyed the set lunch menu. Starting with a Jetty staple, the cheese soufflé, we had a festive main and pudding. Very good value, impeccable service."
