Following on from Casanis (RIP) was no mean feat but, since taking over this Georgian townhouse venue in 2016, chef Henry Scott (ex-of Claude Bosi’s now defunct Hibiscus) has more than risen to the challenge, and his French-led cuisine is uniformly well-rated. Top Tip – “they do an excellent (weekday) set lunch, not advertised on the website”.

“Henry is well on his way to a Michelin star – or two,” say fans of the “young, hardworking” chef’s “ambitious, totally delicious” spot, in a bare-boards Georgian townhouse (that was once Casanis, RIP). “Lovely staff” and “well-priced” set lunches round out its charms.

“A great follow-on to the sadly departed Casanis” – this “pared-back” but “relatively upmarket” spot has a “tiny menu but with big flavours!” (the separate vegan menu is also “worth investigating”). Chef Henry Scott “experiments” with “novel” creations to “superb” effect, and – “nice touch”“usually brings one of the courses to the table”. “’Amazing’ is an overused word in today’s world, but it applies to Henry’s food!”

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
