As per its name, this “brilliant” fine dining room at the back of the Rose and Crown pub, and bang in the “middle of nowhere”, is a real local beacon, having been voted ‘Derbyshire’s Restaurant of the Year’ in 2018. “The tasting menu is always excellent” and “they have added the option of wine flights” now too.

“Sitting at the back of the Rose and Crown pub in the middle of nowhere”, this “gem” of a restaurant is a bit of a “revelation” in the local “culinary desert”. The young team (“all seemingly 30 or below”) “oozes slick professionalism in the kitchen” and provide a “delightful experience at reasonable prices” – the “seasonal and superb” nine-course tasting menu just “gets better and better”.

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
