Toro Gordo opens in Hammersmith

First-time restaurateur Miguel Caffarena, formerly of Soho’s Bodega Negra, has headed west to open an Asian-influenced tapas bar. Toro Gordo (the Fat Bull) arrived in Hammersmith’s King Street this week and as a special introductory offer Harden’s readers will receive 30 per cent off food throughout the month of August. Just quote ‘Harden’s’ when you book your table. The offer ends on 31 August.

The 65-cover restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner, as well as weekend brunch, with a bar serving not only tapas but a wide range of Spanish wines and fiery Latino and Asian-flavoured cocktails. Signature drinks include: ‘Malaga Breeze’ (Ketel One vodka, sake, coconut, passion fruit & lychee juice) and ‘200% Dynamite’ (Ice Fox vodka, Lillet blanc, jalapeno and cucumber).

Caffarena, who has travelled extensively through Asia, says he aims to transport his guests into another world, offering simple, authentic dishes with a twist, rustic yet industrial interiors (we’re not sure what that means) and music that runs the gamut from reggae to funk and Latino to hip-hop.
