The founders of Clapham wine and charcuterie bar, WC (set inside a former public lav) have launched a new venture in a one-time train station toilet. Joe Public will serve up 20 inch pizzas, whole or by the slice, to eat in or take-away from a former loo by Clapham Common. Inside there’s just 14 diner-style stools but outside is a 25-cover terrace.
The pizza joint, from Jayke Mangion and Andy Bell, is expected to open on 19 March. Inside there’s authentic Victorian metro tiles, sitting beneath the original exposed beamed ceiling, and Joe Public’s own craft beer or wine on tap.
Toppings include: Fresh fig, gorgonzola, delicate prosciutto and pine nuts to tender roasted lamb, purple potato, feta and black olives. For those getting on the tube or passing by on their way to the park there’s a quick-serve hatch opening out onto the common.
In the morning Joe Public will serve baked butties of bacon, sausage & egg as well as coffee from Caravan Roasters.
