London has a reasonable claim to being the world’s top Indian restaurant city. Leading lights such as Rasoi, Amaya, The Painted Heron, Benares and Zaika are pushing back the frontiers, but – perfectly reasonably – charge the same as their European equivalents.
What’s more exciting in terms of vaule are the man Indian restaurants where you can eat much more cheaply than you could eat European. Top names in the East End are almost legendary ‘value’ experience – the Lahore Kebab House and New Tayyabs.
