Featured Shropshire Restaurants
. Mr Underhill’s
British, Modern restaurant in Ludlow
Dinham Weir - SY8
2016 Review: Christopher and Judy Bradley have hit upon a hard-to-beat formula, at their idyllically located, very professional restaurant-with-rooms a peaceful, couples place, where in summer a meal kicks off with aperitifs in the riverside gardens. Chris consistently produces stunning, honest cooking, while Judy presides extremely knowledgeably over a formidable wine list and cheese selection. Stop Press at the end of 2015 the restaurant is to close while the Bradleys take stock to consider how to develop the business further.
. Green Café, Ludlow Mill On The Green
British, Modern restaurant in Ludlow
Dinham Millennium Green - SY8
Ive simply never not loved any dish served here in all the years Ive been going! With a superb location looking across the River Teme, chef Clive Daviss wonderful café (sit outside and watch the kids fishing) offers simple and uncomplicated food, whose deftness and assurance means its always brilliant (and at these affordable prices, you can afford to spend extra petrol to get there). I had foie gras the night before at a Michelin-starred joint and it was good. The next day I had Clive Daviss chicken liver paté for lunch, and it was ridiculously 10 times better!
French restaurant in Oswestry
45 Willow Street - SY11
Another scintillating year for this outstanding local a French-influenced restaurant-with-rooms, which is supplying increasing amounts of food to the Orient Express, and where food and service achieve the highest level; its certainly consistent (in 20 or more years of visiting we have never had a poor meal!)
. The Fish House
Fish & seafood restaurant in Ludlow
51 Bullring - SY8
Only open Wednesday to Saturday, this is a fishmonger's serving cold fish dishes (including seafood platters) at lunch times; seating around barrels is limited and not the most comfortable, but despite this it is well worth a visit.
. Number Four
French restaurant in Shrewsbury
4 Butcher Row - SY1
A really friendly and always busy café, in the city-centre, which may be a little cramped but serves some brilliant dishes a particular shout-out goes to the great range of breakfast items.
. King And Thai
Chinese restaurant in Broseley
The Forester Arms, Avenue Road - TF12
The good folk of Ironbridge and Broseley are very lucky having this converted pub on their doorstep; you think youre having something predictable, but the cooking is better than imagined (namely Thai cuisine with a superb use of fresh seasonal and regional ingredients).
. Smoke House Deli And Cicchetti
restaurant in Ludlow
10 Broad St - SY8
The best coffee shop in Ludlow by a long way is a great antidote to samey-ness modelled on a Venetian bàcaro, it serves great brews, and varied breakfast and lunch menu of cicchetti.
restaurant in Oswestry
35 Willow St - SY11
2016 Review: A welcome, upmarket addition to Oswestry a very stylish bar-restaurant in a Georgian building which reopened after a major revamp in late-2014, and now offers beautifully presented food with maximum flavour; Michael Caines is involved in the venture, thus the similarity to his menus at Abode.
