A “buzzy” Knightsbridge brasserie whose customer base seems largely to be drawn from the offspring of those who went there in the site’s ‘St Quentin’ days; a “warm and welcoming” sort of place, it offers food that’s “uncomplicated”, but consistently “OK”.

Well, whoever knew that Quentin Crewe’s first ‘Queen’ review, some four decades ago – often hailed as the birth of modern restaurant criticism – noted that the prices at Wilton’s, in St James’s were “so exorbitant they resembled death duties”. Isn’t it great they’ve been able to keep up the same trick for 40 years!

What a transformation! Knightsbridge’s St Quentin “had become a rather staid restaurant”, says the critic. Now, however, it has a new incarnation with “youthful vigour, clean lines, an appealing straightforward menu and a wine list where you can’t quite believe the prices”.
