Harden's survey result
Summary
A “great selection of well-presented fish” is the reason to visit this seafood restaurant on the village green (originally part of the neighbouring inn, which houses their sister restaurant, Oak on the Green).
Summary
In a converted stable block on a pretty village green, this seafood venture was originally part of the next-door coaching inn, which now holds their sister restaurant the Oak on the Green; with its “excellent fresh fish” (“the lunch menu is a bargain”) it’s one of the better Maidstone options.
Summary
“Definitely a go-to restaurant in this neck of the woods” – this “lovely” fish spot is “a small, cosy” room in the converted stable block of a coaching inn on the village green. Prices are reasonable, and the fish and seafood are “very good quality”.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Fish on the Green Restaurant Diner Reviews
"First visit here for Lunch. Next to a large busy pub which also seemed to have interesting food. However, this one is about fish and they have quite a lot. I made the mistake of ordering fishcakes which are really hard to make light and not feel like a supermarket buy. Not their fault. Main courses of Hake and Plaice were differently resented so by swapping you had two experiences or decent fish. Slightly lacking sides - we eschewed fries as being not suitable! Excellent sticky toffee - light... Coffee comes with Truffles We sat outside a very quiet roadside next to 4 men who worked their way through the menu and much of the wine list to much fun and chortling. Perhaps they go on Fridays..."
"Excellent fish and delightful terrace on the edge of the green of this pretty village, goat cheese panacotta, hake fillet and sticky toffee pudding. "
"Lovely small fish restaurant on the edge of Bearsted Green. Reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Can thoroughly recommend the Shellfish Cockktail and the Halibut."
