For 25 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. This year diners have submitted over 60,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK.
Mixed feedback this year on this “bustling seafood restaurant” – a “spacious and comfortable” operation, in an office block on the Royal Mile. Most reporters vaunt it as offering “Edinburgh’s best seafood”, but it was not without critics who found it “repeatedly underwhelming” and “expensive”.
“A superb choice of fish of the highest quality” and “superb” seafood has established this “lovely, light and bright” operation (part of an office block off the Royal Mile) as one of Edinburgh’s most popular dining destinations.
The setting within an office block off the Royal Mile may be “rather clinical”, but on most accounts the seafood dishes on offer are “worth saving up for”; that said, there were occasions this year when the cooking seemed “more competent than inspired”.
“Edinburgh’s top seafood”; just off the Royal Mile, this “light”-filled (if perhaps “slightly clinical”) dining room is a leading destination for “fish that’s as fresh as you can get”.
Ondine Restaurant Diner Reviews
"The roasted seafood platter was worth the flight alone. Freshest produce carefully cooked and a genuine thing of beauty. Lovely service. Loud."
"Excellent value for money lunch to be had here. Get a window seat if you can. Freshest of fish served simply."
