“In a leafy street near Richmond Park”, and with a “great garden for the kids to let off steam”, Paul Merrett’s large East Sheen gastropub has a particular name as a family destination (and can sometimes seem “overrun” at weekends); the food, though, is “consistently good”.

“Everything was well within the tolerance of ‘excellent’ until we got to the puddings, which screeched into mediocrity” – the critic is pretty impressed by this airy sheen gastropub.

TO’s head man visits the new Sheen gastropub of Paul Merrett, “one of the very few chefs who have successfully made the transition from acclaimed, Michelin-starred chef to familiar face on the telly”. He finds the food middle-of-the-road and the service “young and very inexperienced”, but “prices charged are on the high side”.
