Featured Altrincham Restaurants
1. Sugo
Italian restaurant in Altrincham
22 Shaw's Rd, Altrincham - WA14
“Home-style Italian dishes that are plentiful and utterly delicious” (“they regularly change the menu”) have carved a major name for this small, family-run venture near Altrincham Market, which also benefits from its “chatty and informed served”. “They have not got too big and arrogant – even though they have expanded to two sites now they have kept the quality, and I know as it’s two minutes from my house!”
2. Altrincham Market
International restaurant in Altrincham
Greenwood Street - WA14
A rare beacon amid tales of the death of the high street, the “vibrant” regeneration of Alti’s covered market – which dates back to 1290, and has been reinvented in recent years by local lad Nick Johnson – is heartening indeed. It’s now “a very exciting place to eat”, with a “massive choice of different food” under its Victorian roof – including noted sourdough pizza purveyors Honest Crust, who occupy Market House, the new market’s centrepiece.
3. Honest Crust
Pizza restaurant in Altrincham
26 Market Street - WA14
This sourdough pizzeria at “buzzy” Altrincham Market (and now Manchester’s Mackie Mayor) is by well-earned repute “significantly better than anything else in the area”. It’s “still belting out some amazing food, but don’t get too pricey guys – remember, it’s a marketplace and we sit on hard benches”.
4. The Con Club
British, Modern restaurant in Altrincham
48 Greenwood St - WA14
2019 Review: After the arrival of Salford Quays player David Vanderhook two years back, the former Altrincham Conservative Working Men’s Club is now a brasserie/microbrewery, having had a “fantastic” industrial-chic makeover. The “eclectic” Japanese/grilled meat menu can seem a little “overrated”, and even fans agree it’s secondary to the “highly enjoyable”, “loud and glamorous” atmosphere.
5. Toast
Sandwiches, cakes, etc restaurant in Altrincham
63 Stamford New Road - WA14
The best thing since sliced bread? This Altrincham café will serve toast in all its varieties - from classic baked beans on toast to sesame chilli prawn toasts and even dessert on toast. Founded by Justin Orange (twin brother of Take That's Jason) and chef Ed Carr, who previously worked alongside Mary-Ellen Mctague at Aumbry after they met at The Fat Duck.
