A tale of two Toms

Tom Conran

Notting Hill's longstanding Tom's Deli will re-open after a major refurb this spring, in a partnership between owner Tom Conran and new chef Tom Straker. Initially billed as a 12 month pop-up, the restaurant will be called New Tom's, and have walls lined with British pop art loaned by Conran's father, Sir Terence.

Straker is not only an alumnus of the Dorchester but also of Heston Blumenthal's Dinner, so it’s no surprise the menu promises to showcase 'ultra-modern cooking techniques'. Alongside a menu including dishes such as veal short rib ravioli and scrambled hens eggs with treacle cured bacon, we're told there will be a garden smoker for foods such as 'salmon, tomatoes, salt and even water.'
